Saviour sword

How much should I paying for this sword? Cheapest I can see is around 12 ex. Is it that good to justify the price? Thanks

It's 2 ex on pc, what's your main hand weapon?
That's quite a difference. Using a pretty decent crafted foil in main hand. Looking to power up my wild strike raider. But don't know if the benefits a saviour brings warrants such an investment.

So... it really depends on the specifics of the build, AND on what benefit you hope to get from it.

One thing people nearly universally fail to mention when talking about The Savior is that it is a *terrible* weapon, from a DPS perspective.

So they say "The Savior *doubles* your DPS!".

No, it doubles the DPS that got seriously nerfed by switching to The Savior instead of a better 2nd weapon.

BTW, *only* ever wear The Savior in dual wield. It will seriously handicap your damage if you try to use it Sword & Board.

So, I went to poe.ninja builds list and looked for Wild Strike builds using The Savior. None came up. That's probably a bad sign.

I did find a Frost Blades build, which is a relatively similar skill.

Importing that build into PoB, replacing The Savior with a copy of their main hand weapon is 33% more DPS. (PoB does not include the Savior's clones in the calculation).

So, if we assume 100% uptime on the clones, and assume they don't have any special advantages or disadvantages, then the DPS works out like this:

Savior version = 2.4mil DPS, x2 = 4.8mil DPS.

Duplicated Main Hand = 3.2mil DPS

That means that using the Savior (in this particular build) is roughly 50% more DPS than just buying a better 2nd weapon.

There are sometimes special considerations. For example, when using the newly reworked Steel skills, your Savior clones count has having as many Steel shards as you have, but they do not actually consume any shards when using skills, so they're actually *better* than 50% more damage.

Some examples of situations where The Savior doesn't provide as much more damage as you might think:

-When the clone AI doesn't do useful things, or does something different than the goal you're trying to achieve. (Example: You want to burst down a rare surrounded by mobs, but the clones are killing the lesser mobs instead of attacking the rare, or vice versa).

-When the build relies on something that doesn't transfer over to the clones (the clones don't copy all your gear & skills, just your stats and the one skill they were created with). An example here is that your clones don't have your Auras. This is primarily important for Auras that affect enemies instead of you, such as Pride or a Blasphemy curse.

There's other stuff too, but I'm not knowledgeable enough in this to try to claim to make a comprehensive list.

Personally, if you're doing Lightning-Only Wild Strike with the +6 Chains Helm Enchant, I doubt you'll see huge benefits from The Savior. I've never played any other version of Wild Strike, so I'm not sure about the others.
Thanks for the detailed response. Much appreciated.
