From what I've seen, absolutely. I'm glad I noped out of PoE when I see stuff like that. After how fucking brilliant Betrayal was in concept and how thoroughly let down it was by its execution, I figured that any similar 'big concept' leagues ('expansions') would be similarly disappointing. Nature of the beast really: the best league ideas deserve to be made into new games unto themselves, rather than shoe-horned into a lumbering mess of an existing one.

Yea I'm not a big fan of the strong deviations from basic arpg gameplay with these edgy leagues. (Table Top, Pokemon, Tower Defense, Stardew Valley, and now Metal Gear Light) One because it doesn't always translate, and two because it introduces all sorts of variants, and potential pit falls from a technical & balance standpoint.
Not to mention mechanic after mechanic being added to the core game makes PoE one of the more intimidating and new-player hostile games in the genre. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

Second it's really weird how apparently they want to double down on talisman league. It will be always NPC food. "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."
Once you break the cycle of fear no angels or demons can whisper you their sweet nothing words. Retired since crucible.(Not a free tester anymore for a multi billion dollar company). |
