Spell cast location improvement for Console version?
Since everyone is still waiting for the realm online, allow me to propose a topic to discuss.
I played the PC version a few years ago and this year I started the PS4 version. It took me a while to get used to play it with the controller and most of the operations feel fine and smooth. However, there is one thing bothering me a lot, which is the non-adjustable spell cast location. Because we do not have a cursor, the spell cast location is decided by the system with a simple logic: If there is no enemy nearby, it casts at the player's location If there is an enemy nearby, it casts at the enemy location If there is multiple enemies nearby, it casts at the one your direction pad aims at This logic is fine for most of the offensive spells but it is a bit awkward for some skills, for example spell totem, which normally we do not want them being appeared under the nose of the enemy. Another example would be cremation, which requires desecrate to create corpse. I would always prefer to cast the desecrate at the character's foot location, or somewhere in between the character and the enemy, then case cremation. But with the current game mechanism, I cannot. What makes it worse is, the cast distance of cremation is shorter than desecrate, meaning, the corpse created by desecrate can be too faraway to cast cremation on them. One other example is the using of The Writhing Jar. The worms always jump at the opposite direction of the player which makes most of the spells cannot hit them immediately. I ended up using Divine Ire to reliably kill the worms because it is kind of the only skill can reach the worms without requiring turning character back. Considering we have 'alternative behavior' options for some skills, is it possible to give the spell skills an option to choose the cast distance? Either at the enemy location or at the character location or maybe between these two? What you guys think about this? First time playing cremation build and thought it felt weird too. While moving and casting desecrate it typically spawns at the edge of the screen or max distance. While cremation can only cast at 2/3 the distance, so it often does not proc. Pretty clunky interaction which is a shame.
