Voltaxic Spark Return Build Questions!

Hey all,

I've never made a build myself before and would like to try, especially since the new alternate quality spark gem can get 40% conversion to chaos. Since voltaxic gives 60%, that will be 100% chaos.

What ascendancy works best for this?

I was thinking either Occultist for -chaos res, 2 curses, and some ES. Also, the witch start is very nice for ES, chaos dmg, and shock %. It will also allow me to go Soul Strike quiver for lots of ES.

Another alternative would be deadeye for projectile dmg, +3 pierce additional targets, and +100% crit. However, the tree is a bit less helpful in regard to chaos dmg and crit.



Let me know if anyone has any idea on which ascendancy to use!

Ascendant(deadeye/occultist?) might be the best. You get 2 pierce and an extra proj on top of up to 50% inc damage based on distance traveled. 40 dex is also nice for getting the 212 dex req for voltaxic. the second ascendency can be whatever you are feeling. Scion is a better starting point also compaired to ranger.

Ah thank you so much for the reply! Yes, upon looking back at voltaxic spark builds, I noticed that a lot of people used Scion. However, this was so long ago and they were even using Champion, so I didn't know if it was outdated. I'll have to look into that. I have leveled so far as an occultist (only like 40), and I'm realizing that having 2 curses is kind of pointless. I could put 1 on blasphemy, but the other would have to be on a CWDT setup.

I also really don't know how I would proc despair. Blasphemy range is way too short, and Hextouch support with orb of storms would also be too short range. So something else I have to think of!

I have been testing a Voltaxic Rift and Phantasmal Spark build as Scion. One thing I did for procing Despair was the following link setup for Storm Brand:



Increased Critical Strike Support is here help to trigger the Elemental Overload keystone.

You could also link Hextouch Support and Despair to Herald Of Thunder. You can add Blind Support to the Herald Of Thunder link for some added defensive capabilities.

Disclosure: It's not min/maxed as I just went for it without going through PoB. And as of right now I don't know how viable for endgame it will be as I progress through towards endgame. Right now I can reliable do T10 Maps.

Oh and one other thing, with the chaos damage increases, I've opted for the new skill Void Sphere in lieu of Orb of Storms. Though mostly because I wanted to try it out.
