And I do worry about GGG too as it is 100% (or just 80%?) Tencent/China now. Some times people should care more whos money they take :(.

Exile009 has a great list, read all but one and highly recommend them.

Also

The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins - can change the way you see literally everything about humanity

Fabric of the Cosmos by Brian Greene - can change the way you see reality and time

Emporer of All Maladies by Siddhartha

Trash/ pulp fiction;

Heroes Die by Matthew Stover - scifi/fantasy but mostly just gritty action

The Spiral Wars by Joel Shepherd, great page turning scifi series

In the middle of SW Thrawn Treason.

Not that good compare to Thrawn trilogy, but the new trilogy (or will be quad?) re-cannon the backstory of the Grand Admiral

The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R Tolkien

Can't remember which reread of the trilogy I'm on but it's been awhile. As good as ever.
