Mayor Pete (hype thread)

Found out about this man after watching several interviews.

Pete Buttigieg on Morning Joe

One of the best presidential candidates I've ever seen (maybe the best). Is Mayor Pete the candidate that can heal the USA?

people love an atticus finch, more precisely the fact that hes so good he doesnt fart.
He's gonna have a rough time. His main message is really vague...generational change? He lacks the charisma pull for me, and he is way too scripted with his responses.

Probably, overtly harsh of me, but with candidates like Bernie, Beto, and Andrew Yang? He's got a long way to go here.

He seems like a smart guy with his heart in the right place. The comments from the Fox News video really surprised me, they're overwhelmingly positive. Also Bill Maher is still an asshole.

Still hoping that Yang can make an impact.

Pete Buttigieg Challenges Religious Right on Their Own Turf

About time. Kick Mike Pence's closeted-ass Mayor Pete!
That's why I'm still for Yang over Pete, Yang doesn't really do identity politics. Also Yang's approach is truly transformational while Pete is kinda milquetoast centrist Obama-type incremental change style.

I don't know much about Yang. I heard he's for universal income and recently read a book explaining how universal income makes sense. So I'd probably like Yang's ideas if I knew more about them.

But right now, Yang doesn't have a chance. Yang hasn't broken into the national conversation (b/c the media won't talk about him). Mayor Pete has.

It's about time some-one went after these "holier-than-thou" types.
He has no name recognition (with a name like that no surprise) and will go nowhere. Sadly, the best person doesn't win primaries. The one that is more famous or infamous does. So that is the end.

You heard it here first.

I'd say he has a good chance at the moment. He still has a long way to go. But the media outlets are all giving him lots of free publicity which really helps a candidate.

Also, not that many people are calling him Buttigieg. Most people refer to him as Mayor Pete. If he became President, I'd still call him Mayor Pete lol. It's like a folksy nick-name.

Edit: I'd actually probably just call him President Pete lol.

Yang is polling between 1 and 3 percent which is pretty good at this stage where literally nobody but lunatics like us even care about the candidates. Once the debates happen in June and July I bet he will poll quite a bit higher. Not sure if he can win though, Bernie's gonna get it.
