[Hideout Stories] T.H.I.R.O.W - The Hidden Island Resort of Wraeclast

Hi guys, this is my 1st ever Hideout post and I thought I'd make it more interesting by adding a little story to go with it. Hope you enjoy both!

“Have ya ever ‘eard of THIROW?” Captain Roth was giving me an uncertain look while we were hanging out at the Oriath Docks on a casual summer day.

“Of course I have and I’ve caught a few in fact, feisty little things with their spinning pecks aren’t they?”

Lily shook her head in disgust when she finally realised what I meant after looking at my strange handheld device from the Eastern Continent.



“Ya old school idiot….I’m talking ‘bout a paradise only known to da most powerful and wealthy or to legendary pirates like me! But ya know wat, I’m just gonna take ya der since ya've saved my Grandpa and all!”

I was finally having a showdown with the almighty OAK but she dragged me onto her ship and we sailed the seas for the next 3 days across familiar cliff sides and terrain.



“We’re here, Kotaku!” Lily shouted across the helm.

As I looked up from a certain yellow creature in my hands, my gaze was fixed upon a beautiful island covered in gleaming gold and crimson.
We carefully stepped off the tiny port and my nose was immediately drawn in by a mysterious aroma I’ve never smelled upon. My body started drifting automatically towards it whilst I could hear a small familiar voice in the distance; “Over here ya moron!”
I didn’t care and continued until I bumped into a man standing in front of what looked like a high class restaurant.



The man leaped back as he saw my handsome figure lunging towards the huge table of gourmet delicacy in front of my dreamy eyes. I have never tasted food this heavenly before but I would have never imagined being stopped in the middle when a turquoise glint caught the corner of my eye.



“That’s the famous Moonwell, sir.” The man whispered. “Legend tells that if you throw a certain Orb into the well, you will receive ETERNAL happiness, wink wink.”
I don’t really give a flying pants I thought, as my beloved had already been long lost inside the Belly of the Beast, so I just threw a Chaos Orb into it on my way out. Fireworks and blood spewed out into the sky behind me as I made a left turn around the back of the restaurant, "Eternal my pants!", so no Regrets there.



I hurried further along the coast onto a wooden path lit with torches, whilst the gentle waves soothed my bare and sweaty feet.

Soon after I circled around what looked like a giant ship, my tongue started dangling out of my mouth when I peeked through the entrance of this Michelin starred restaurant.
[Treasures of the Reef] Read the sign at the front and within this gorgeously lit vessel, there were a few young pirates enjoying the largest crustacean I’ve ever seen.



“What the heck is that thing?” I grumbled.

The guests, while still munching menacingly, garbled; “This is der bloody Brine King old man! All made possible by a certain Exile who was stupid enough to take him on! Not that we’re complaining though, AHAHAHAHA!”



Their words echoed in my feeble mind for a few seconds until I recalled my little fight with that giant lobster some time ago where I was severely distracted by that gorgeous Mermaid on his head and nearly died. Anger rushed to my head and out of habit I Leap Slammed at them….accidently. The table and all three of them were crushed under my awesome power along with the ship underneath it, splitting cleanly in half.

“Oops, but this is CRUSTINGLY Delicious!” Were the words I used as I gobbled down the lobster tail taken from the bloodied bodies of those no-good bandits.




“....Release from my hand the power that's inside!” After that refreshing meal I was singing to my favourite tune as I skipped and danced through the rest of the town. Along the way, I met some masterful artisans of various trades but all the women were averting my eyes as I walked past them for reasons unknown. Confused after looking at my Mirror, I met up with Lily at the huge gate in the distance who have been staring at me all this time.



“Ya seriously don’t get it?? Just look at what yer bloody ‘olding!”

I looked down but saw nothing out of the ordinary.
“That’s just my treasure wrapped in my pants my love.” I explained.

“Oh for crying out loud!.... Nope, I’m not even gonna go der.” She muttered.
“But actually THAT might be useful!”

I excitedly gave her my pants but she threw it on the floor... “That Mirror in your hand might just be our ticket to paradise!”

Before I could even refuse, she snatched it from me and gave it to the man behind the security booth. My fist was about to reach her face but the guy already stashed it away into his chest and shouted: “Welcome honoured guests! To the Grand Phoenix Resort where paradise awaits!” and he waved us into the gates on the right hand side.

“We’ll get that back later stingy! Who can best you when it comes to violence anyway?” Rolling her eyes.

Well she has a point, so I played along and went through the gates with a plan of vengeance.



“Just look at that view....” Lily was like a little girl while running over to the two chairs under an archway that looked like a romantic spot for couples to take pictures.
“Do you think we can you know....too? :) ”



Ignoring her ugly toothless face, I kept walking along the gentle sloping pavement up towards the entrance of this grand looking cathedral. I spotted a muscular and handsome man of my liking standing at the front so I spent a good hour chatting him up instead.



After exchanging our life stories, we reluctantly said our temporary goodbyes and I finally went through the door. I was immediately stunned by the beauty of the gold furnishings and luxurious red velvety sofas, but in front of that sofa was a drunken...and naked...man...resting on top of an urn full of Rum.

“Rum AND Bum? What more could a man ask for!” So I helped myself to a little bit of both until Mr Leo finally got jealous and stopped me.



We spent the next hour in the small area in the corner with its amazing coastline views, admiring each other and our treasures.



Eventually he had to get back to work so I strolled into the dining area next door and came upon the most delicately cut fish and meat I’ve ever seen.
“Wow, who could slice and dice so well like that apart from Mr Leo??” I picked up the meat without caring about the lady looking out the balcony and devoured it whole. The taste was actually very familiar and I wondered where I’ve had it before.



I walked around the area when I saw a dark hooded figure chopping up some limbs of a tattooed cannibal.

“Ah yes, THAT’S what I had before.” He gave me a smirk along with a few extra slices of meat and I continued further down the corridor holding my cocktail sticks. I thought to myself, “Can today get any better??”



After a small flight of steps, I arrived in an open circular throne room that looked like an old Fellshrine Ruin. It was magnificently decorated, full of artifacts and had this strange golden device in the very middle. I was admiring this otherworldly machine of beauty when I was suddenly greeted by someone even more out of this world.

“Still sane, Exile?” A lady of utmost elegance smiled at me with her crimson hair glittering in the limelight. Petals seemed to orbit around her giving off the most pleasant of aromas.
As I became lost in her mesmerizing and seductive presence, I felt my certain orientation slowly reversing..“NOOOooooo I’m so sorry...Leo.”



Lily, who has been monitoring me all day long, eventually lost it and ran over to the rugged grandpa in the corner and threw herself around him while trying to get my attention.
She had never been rejected by old men before but this was no ordinary smelly old man.
His garments flew off in all directions as he flexed his muscles and he sunk his staff into the ground with a swing of his arm. Holding Lily in one hand and his staff in the other, he began to rotate at such high speeds that he created a Cyclone! One second later the stained glass window was shattered into tiny pieces and Lily was nowhere to be found.

“It’s open waters on the other side, no need to worry.” Master Elreon smiled gently as he came over to comfort me with a new garment wrapped around him.

“Nah, she needed a bath anyway.” I told him, thanking him with a manly handshake.



Back to Miss Gorgeous I thought, so I asked her what she’s been up to.

“Well, I’ve been doing a lot of research lately and I think I found a way to consistently maintain a connection to the Untainted Paradise!” She jumped around happily kissing everyone on the cheek excitedly.
“Do you want to join me?”

“Ooooh do I ever!” I immediately replied.
“But...can I bring Leo along too?”

“Sure, hes very good indeed...in most places” Zana blushed.

“How about...the old man?”

“Ok, whatever you want darling!” Zana smiled.

“F’Awesome!” I exclaimed.



Slightly confused, they waited for Zana to operate the strange device until she successfully connected the Paradise of another world to our own.

“Are you all ready?” Asked Zana, with her head poking through from the other side of the portal.

As time and space warped around me, a chill went down my spine as if someone was watching me....

Aaaaaaaaaand, you can imagine what happened next.
