Most Under-Valued Skills in PvP
There has been much mention of the most over-used, exploited, OP skills in PvP.
But what about under-used? What about those skills which have potential viability but are either unknown, unpopular, and thus under-explored? I'm going to go out on a limb and say, personally, Shrapnel Shot and Heavy Strike. Shrapnel Shot has 100% pierce, 90% phys to light (with gem), and aoe/proj double dipping. I built a point-blank, iron grip, shrapnel shot, champion, chin-sol build that rekt a certain native of where Wonder Woman buys her contraceptives. Granted, I suck at ranged builds, and thus its full potential was lost upon me. Heavy Strike can (with reverse knockback) force enemies to continue moving vs Bleed, or perma-stun with a combo phys/ele dmg. But even without reverse knock-back, it can consistently force an opponent to attempt re-engagement between knock-backs. Hats off to Aodui - make yer name easier to spell. However, nevermind my ideas, what are yours'? What do you consider the most under valued skills in PvP? Last bumped on Jul 11, 2017, 5:32:16 PM

thanks for posting something that makes sense first of all.
" just one item counters it. use anti knockback item, and you are fine. " smoke mine counters this hard, at the moment you think you approached target with your flasks on you can lose sight of your target and the damage is not enough. its weak to block also because its not multi hitting. or 3-4l bear trap can lock you in a place and make you open to cheap shots. " Valid points, all. Except it was my mistake, reverse-knockback works for both... the entire point of either build is to close distance between the enemy/opponent. And yeah, it's not perfect, but that's just it - ideas in the ether. Which is why I tried to create a thread of under-appreciated ideas. I know know you got some interesting ideas Rup, that perhaps before seemed a bit just too outlandish to share... don't worry, according to Crapizz and MarCuiseControl, the PvP community is not at all judgemental. |

whole field of melee is open for build options which is not discovered / or not invested on by anyone. jewelled foils has to be revisited i think.
i believe a min maxed high block melee build can easily handle all the glass cannon rangers. ofc i think qotf is a must. you can simply use 2200 eva shield + gyphon and switch to DW when you come close. here is https://pastebin.com/TahcAyXJ a pob code with 473-520% increased movespeed, 75 block on rumi, 1.3M effective pve dps dual striker. this would totally be a game changer, this can totally obliterate every offscreener. sorry folks, this is my sight, maybe you can do even better than me. i wonder why our "melee gods" instead of complaining never come up with such similar ideas. edit: might and influence jewels added to build. Lapiz had a very good Mirror arrow build scaling minion damage and life using Minion Instability, it was very good damage, even without the chaos cloud and the ignite the initial hit was good. It eliminited one flaw of usual minion builds where the minions have to get close, and they can be cursed or killed to stop the damage, but mirror clones instantly explode on appearing, and they can be aimed at anywhere on the screen.
BTW for best knockback you need multi-hitting skills, because the knockback distance of single hits is limited. IGN: Márkusz

" It's a good concept, but the life pool is still in one-shot range of glass cannons, and it has only 30% spell block chance. Since life based I think dodge would fit better, 5 points on tree, swap the rumi for a Quartz, boots for Atziri which has still high evasion with dodge enchants (2 of them, one spell, one attack) for a 65/61 or 55/69 chance, or even +10/10 with Hinekora since you are hunting glasses you would need more dodge rng than damage, and blind immunity is also needed. " yes, good point. i mainly tried to counter my own build with this. i kinda ignored spell builds. for spell builds, dodge is better since they can get 66% block reduction. as you said in that case phase acro + hinekora + atziri boots + quartz flasks are better. " You know I have a full stash tab of godlike DW gear right? If you don't believe me, I'll show you. Pointless to make builds that excel in only a few areas but falter vs the rest. You guys like to make a build that does nothing but 1 thing and that's survive vs the current meta, rinse repeat every patch. GGG, the ADA of gaming....huuuur i gotz mai skilz.

Melee should beat offscreeners fairly easy yeah but vs everything else it's just sort of hopeless. Melee being open for build options? I guess there are many different ways to make a melee but it doesn't exactly change the fact it can only beat the offscreeners and even they can adapt to an extent.
A skill that no one seems to use is blight. Which is completely bonkers vs anything non-CI. A tanky qotf blight char should be extremely strong. One can always swap to retardray vs CI. Then there are all the blood magic builds that use zerphi as the main defense. You can make almost anything look "viable" with this crap. Coc builds should work very well as an example. Also like Markusz said, ignite through minion instability is quite insane with the current double dipping. It gets countered by someone simply rolling a pathfinder though. 3.0. should also kill the build quite effectively. Some other things that people dont use or consider op but could be made into something seemingly proper: storm call (inferior version of flameblast), lightning warp (mostly because of the fixed t-value) and ethereal knives on a qotf char with the "new" jewel. In other words, there aren't any actually undervalued skills or mechanics. Last edited by lapiz#7973 on Jul 9, 2017, 11:58:21 AM
