New Slayer - Basic Dual weild build need advice

So i have a lv80 Slayer and need some help on how to make it not so noobish...I took a yearor so off poe and as a result and a total beginner again.

From my gear you can I'm using lacerate, I have the dual issue of feeling like i dont have a decent dps and are also low on def...I can run tier 4 or 5 maps ok with the occasional death from screen freeze...but when i try to move a few tiers higher i very much feel like noob... any advice on gear swaps.... or tree changes will would be great... Even the basic things would be great!

sure your tree can be better, but that is not the real issue, Abyssus is, it cut down your defense way too much, your damage should be OK, a lvl 80 sc duelist should only die to volatile stuff and porcupines, maybe occasionally die to map bosses you are not suppose to fight with a certain build.

Choosing slayer but not doing two hand is a bit asking for trouble, slayer two hand build at level 80 can have a little more damage/life/amour than this, and it's cheaper, headsman node is just too good, 50% less reflect and 20% more damage, higher base damage the weapon has, higher dps you got.

Lacerate is a bad skill and your defenses are poor. Prevent hits with block is what I would recommend. Buy the anvil amulet and a soul taker and your experience will improve greatly I think.

In your tree, cut the leech.
There's no way you need that much mana leech.

Grab Hatchet master instead:
