Medallion, Event 44: Eternal Torment Nemesis

Dead characters will still receive reward points.

Active Mods
The following league mods are active during this event:
  • Eternal Torment: All areas other than towns and the Twilight Strand will be inhabited by 10 additional Tormented Spirits. Spirits will spawn regardless of their usual level restrictions. Ths race type is voided.
  • Nemesis: Rare monsters each have a Nemesis mod.

Top Prizes:

The overall top player by experience will receive 3 Reward Points.

The top 20 players of each class by experience will receive:
  • #1 player of each class: Demigod's Dominance (Unique Golden Mantle) and 10 Reward Points.
  • #2 player of each class: 6 Reward Points.
  • #3 player of each class: 5 Reward Points.
  • #4 player of each class: 4 Reward Points.
  • #5 player of each class: 3 Reward Points.
  • #6-10 player of each class: 2 Reward Points.
  • #11-20 player of each class: 1 Reward Point.

Prizes for reaching specific levels:
  • Level 20: 10 Reward Points.
  • Level 16-19: 8 Reward Points.
  • Level 12-15: 7 Reward Points.
  • Level 9-11: 6 Reward Points.
  • Level 6-8: 4 Reward Points.
  • Level 4-5: 2 Reward Points.
  • Level 3: 1 Reward Point.

Quest Prizes:
The first player to complete each of these quests wins the prize listed.
  • Normal difficulty Mercy Mission (The Tidal Island): 2 Reward Points.
  • Normal difficulty The Dweller of the Deep (The Flooded Depths): 2 Reward Points.
  • Normal difficulty The Caged Brute (The Upper Prison): 2 Reward Points.
  • Normal difficulty The Marooned Mariner (The Ship Graveyard): 2 Reward Points.

Full-clear Prizes:
The first player to kill all of the monsters in any of the following areas will receive:
  • Normal difficulty The Fetid Pool: 2 Reward Points.
  • Normal difficulty The Den: 2 Reward Points.
  • Normal difficulty The Dread Thicket: 2 Reward Points.
  • Normal difficulty The Catacombs: 2 Reward Points.

Random Prizes:
Reward points earned in this race grant tickets in a random draw for the following items:
  • Alternate Art Ngamahu Tiki Unique Item (50 available to be won)
  • Alternate Art Night's Hold Unique Item (30 available to be won)

Aw when I read the title I assumed (for no good reason) that each pack would have a rare in it like the Headhunter races. That would make things REAL interesting.

Yeah, clearly didn't see that before. :(

Also wish we could either add time or not have alt start Act 2 solo events. 45 minutes isn't enough for that point scale to really do too much.

Playing with 70-80ms ping, which is causing long loading between zones,
resulting in 2-4 minutes disadvantage in 1 hour races.
(I was wrong, it wasn't a ping issue but something else on GGG side)

So this race has a good idea/theme but isn't uniquely fun or interactive for it. Why? It only lasts 1 hour - if you're stopping to kill spirits, or drive spirits into monsters, you're wasting time. You really only need to drive a spirit into a mini-boss or rare when you need a weapon upgrade, so, maybe twice all race.

Seeing this race as a 1 day or 1 week race would free us up to toy with the spirits more often.

Adding an exp multiplier to monsters who have been haunted would give players some decision making to do.

As it is, for just an hour, this race is indistinguishable from the ruleset of:

20% onslaught
at levels 8 and 14 characters have a chest spawn next to them with 8 random unidentified yellow items
