[2.3] CoC ST - Doesn't even cancer
Hello. Welcome to my guide for CoC ST Ascendant.
---Personal thoughts on the build--- The Bad: Because of Vaal Pact dealing with Blood Rage is bothersome; doesn't have that much health; has difficulty dealing with many map mods; single target is - comparatively - still not great The Good: Excellent clear speed; very safe thanks to the combination of instant leech, range, dps, high defenses and high movement speed; bladefall+EK+arc make for comparatively very little lag; generally very fun. ---Quick info on the state of my current character--- - lvl91 - 13-14ex overall cost (or, you know, 13-60ex if those master crafted Vagan dagger sellers are to be believed) - CoC Setup: Bladefall(8.2k per use)+Arc(7k per use)+EK (8k per use) - 92.82% crit chance, 3.86 APS, 100% accuracy - 4.5k life, 42% EV, 40% Dodge, 44% Spell Dodge, Arctic Armour ---Video--- Plateau Clear - Just a quick introduction Excavation Clear - Double boss, Boss speed and dmg, Extra projectiles Pre-Ascendancy: Wasteland Clear ---Tree--- Tree At lvl91.
Ascendancy
Taking Assassin and Berserker is fairly obvious. Additionally, it is probably best to take two extra skill points after completing Uber Lab, as none of the starting positions would improve our pathing. ---Gear---
Gear
Jewels
Jewels are extremely important for damage. Since we take very few general spell damage nodes (and and only of our spells is a projectile, so no projectile nodes either), we fill almost all of our damage with jewels. Ideally look for spell damage+spell damage with shields+Phys/Light dmg ones. Also, at least two of your jewels should have projectile speed on them to increase our ST range. Otherwise some life would be good too, as well as resists or stats if and when you need those.

General requirements: Dex: Will always have enough Str: As much as you can get Int: 155 for lvl20 Arc (159 for lvl21) --Weapon+Shield-- A Vagan dagger is a necessity since we take no accuracy, but... we also don't have to get any accuracy on gear. Bases you are looking for are either Skean (the best), Slaughter Knife or Boot Blade (and their clones). Ideally they should be "of penetrating" with the highest possible roll of 34. That will get you crit capped. If you can get such a dagger blue, regal and hope for a prefix. If you regal a suffix, master craft AS and move on with your life. If a prefix, multi mod and craft AS, Spell dmg and either X dmg added to spells (best dps), ele leech, or - in case you want to sell it later - either nothing, or added cold dmg to attacks (used on CoC Discharge builds to proc EE). Shield should ideally have high spell dmg, high spell crit, life and a bunch of resists. But hey, at least high ES is not required! You can also use high EV shield if you don't mind the loss of dmg and want to be more tanky. --Chest-- A 6L is pretty much required. Buying a white EV base 6L and chaosing it until good is the cheapest option and possibly the best. Extremely high evasion roll is not required, although life and resists probably are. Some unique chests might work too, but generally you want them to have life and resists. --Rings-- Elreon Diamond rings are required. Try to get the highest mana reduction, then augment looking for a resist. Might take a few tries. Then regal and master craft life unless you have gotten lucky already. If you don't manage to get any resists on your rings, you will have to either do without Atziri's Step, or run Purity of Elements, or lose damage on your jewels. OR. Or get a non-Elreon non-Diamond ring with some life and resists. You fucking dirty cheap peasant. However, if you are 1337 and looking to multimod, regal straight up hoping for either life or res. Then multimod and add whatever you need. Extra crit might make you crit capped even with a worse dagger. --Gloves-- No other option than Maligaro's. --Boots-- Atziri's Step to deal better with reflect. We have a VP, so they are not 100% required, but they are sure nice - and allow you to run ele reflect maps with comfort. --Helmet-- No other option than Rat's Nest. --Amulet-- Crit chance, Crit Multi, Spell dmg and life. Resist if you can get it. Lapis base will fill all your int needs. --Belt-- As much life and resists as you can get. --Flasks-- Diamond Flask to improve your spell crit (mainly against single targets), Atziri's for more leech and dmg, then Taste of Hate would be very nice because it's fucking OP, then your regular life flasks of Staunching (<-very important) and of Heat. ---Gem Setups--- 6L: ST+GMP+CoC+Bladefall+Arc+EK 4L: HoI+HoT+CoH+Ass Mark 4L: Whirling Blades+FA+Fortify; Golem 4L: Inc Duration+Vaal Haste+Vaal Grace+Blood Rage 3L: LW+Less Dur; AA 3L: Clarity; ?; ?
More detailed gem discussion
--ST CoC-- Using Arc+Bladefall+EK seems good for several reasons. 1 - They don't lag very much at all; 2. Arc does the damage immediately, never misses and shocks enemies, while Bladefall and EK do none of that, but they have extremely high damage and none of mobs have any phys resistance (apart from a map mod); 3. You can get jewels with general dmg+phys dmg+light dmg for cheaps. Get quality on your: ST, GMP, CoC, Arc and EK. --Mana/Curses-- HoT and HoI provide some dmg and apply Assassin's Mark. Arctic Armour makes you a bit more tanky. Clarity is not strictly needed but it smoothens out your gameplay in reduced regen maps. --Movement-- Fairly obvious. You use Whirling Blades as your main movement skill and to apply Fortify, and Lightning Warp to get over obstacles. --Vaal Auras-- For bosses and for when you remember to use them. ---Stats---
ST Stats
Defense
Arc dmg
Bladefall dmg
EK dmg
---Bandits--- Normal: Passive/Oak Cruel: Passive/Kraitlyn Merciless: Alira Took Passive, Kraitlyn, Alira ---Leveling--- You can lvl either as EK->Bladefall using Lifesprigs and then Reverberation Rod and get immediate dmg using your jewels, or as ST using Static Electricity and dual wielding swords and later daggers. ---Actually Playing--- What you need to remember to be successful with this build: 1. You are using Blood Rage with VP - so take that into account. And sometimes don't use it. 2. Your damage and leech are extremely important for defense. Don't get stunned, frozen or otherwise incapacitated. 3. Use flasks and Vaal Skills against single targets - FIRE EVERYTHING! 4. You will have very fast Whirling Blades - use it to your advantage and for fun 5. You can do (somewhat) ele reflect maps, but phys reflect maps are a no-no. Similarly, as mentioned, you can't do no regen maps (I guess replace Bladefall with Mana Leech, or use Warlord's Mark instead of Ass Mark, but meh) and no leech maps are not great either. You can, however, do Blood Magic maps somewhat (But I wouldn't bother). 6. Will add stuff if anyone cares enough to leave questions...
