A guide has been posted here which covers general aspects and strategies of racing.

Dead characters will still receive reward points.

A summary of Time based events:

Time based events are designed to create a competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their ability to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Piety, located in The Lunaris Temple (Level 2).

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective will still be counted for receiving reward points.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

Played as Templar since it outweights Witch (especially in act 2) and wanted to pursue sub 1-hour run.

My best run so far has been with a Witch (1hr 4mins and some spare seconds) and it was made without 2nd QS, and MS on that run I got in act 3. So I truly believe sub 1-hour run is doable especially with templar.

Everything started off like the dream run was going to be happening; Got MS from vendor while muling with shadow, and then Hailrake dropped 2nd QS.
Got ahead of everyone already in Climb and had a good lead all the way untill I died at Weaver when she decided to 3 shot me with succesful hits in a row. Had only medium life flasks, so was kinda my own fault, but still extremely unlucky how she didn't go up before hitting me for the 3rd time.

Well, I got my personal best and made top 50 this race so I'm happy... Definitely gotta get sub 1:50 next time
Where did all the shadows go? .____.

Also, why can't I find these when I'm playing melee?

Woke up late. 1hr 31min actual race time shadow. Would have gotten 2nd shadow :(
>84th ladder
>4th duelist
>actual played time:

Got home from work over an hour after race had started but it only made a difference of 1 rank by class lol. A good run, bad RNG for getting a 3L upgrade, alch orb or 2h axe but I had a very definite near-RIP at docks that I only survived because I had a good coral and had JUST specced Bravery less than 30 seconds earlier. At my current skill level I would have only trimmed 10 or so minutes off the time so grats to everyone who participated.

Gear
Gloves definite MVP
