Make Point Blank Gem level 31

If you want an insane multiplier, you can still get it from tree.

But now you can't just stack 2 multipliers together with 2 gems -> trap (like when is trap going to trigger and hit you across the screen or when you're NOT standing next to it). And when did traps ever give a fuck about attack speed?

This has been suggested before, but the problem with this type of change is that it affects PvE as well, which isn't our intended purpose. No one disagrees that Point Blank is absurd when linked to a skill + Trap. There could be a PvP penalty for Point Blank, like 50% reduced effectiveness. This would be a change similar to the one we implemented for Temporal Chains.

Off-topic:
Trap itself is a bit powerful too when you look at spell traps, but this seems more to do with the nature of spells being placed on traps (i.e. Fireball, Freezing Pulse, etc.), which have shotgun potential. High Explosives also is very helpful for ele trap damage.

Other than puncture trap and burning arrow trap, what else uses point blank?

I'm fine with it being a 31 gem, but maybe a half damage reduction for pvp would work too.

I don't think you know about poe skill mechanics. You can use point blank with projectile attacks, not spells.

I'm gonna give him a benefit of the doubt...maybe he meant Tornado Shot? Aside from that, can't think of any "shotgun" skill that uses Point Blank.

Maybe you mean that you want the point blank of freezing pulse removed? Or you think puncture/ moltenstrike+ point blank is worthy of nerfs? Either way Chris already said there are balance changes coming for season 2 of pvp. Stop trying to influence them.

a much more elegant solution is to make point blank over ride the attack speed multiplier in the damage formula to a point where it will not give you that benefit that it does now.

This is something that Greendude said in a mumble discussion I think. Being able to override the attack speed multiplier (or change it in another way) is much better because you can test if the attack itself is too strong, the trap gem or the point blank gem and you can tweak the stuff that needs tuning without affecting too many other builds or pve
