Do you think arc/spark is stronger than a FP/cold snap build in LLD? From the rankings I've seen in standard, and ShatteredChaos' versions of the two, his cold centric build is much better.

Or if it's just for the sake of variety and trying out new builds that's totally cool as well. Or I could just be talking out of my ass and you've figured out how to make arc/spark better which would be nice too. :)

there are not that many cold casters in hc now so its hard to compare one versus the other.

While freeze is useful almost anyone is using wanderlusts or dream fragment so its easier to counter. Almost no one carries topaz flasks/shock removal/tricorn right now so arc with 50% shock chance is great in teams where you can shock most of the enemies even while staying back (relative to melee).

I made my caster as a team build originally and since it was arc centered spark seemed like a very good choice and certainly better than freeze pulse with how many nodes I had invested in lightning damage. It also seems to have a higher shotgun potential, especially if one of the sparks shocks, and can somewhat go around corners which also has it uses.

I still think that freeze pulse has it uses and strong chills are still very potent but with bloodboil they are easier to counter than shock and spark/arc is at least as strong right now and it still can use a cold snap that is at least decent from all the %spell damage nodes and the weapon.

You can't really compare hc vs sc pvp events ranking as a whole because people face a lot different builds and compositions but for what its worth my caster got 5th place on the hc us swiss (im eu) so its certainly a strong build.


ps. Also im lazy so I like the arc auto targeting. Especially in FFA where you just arc and shit melts :)

casual reminder to post any guides you might have made and want to share

thought most pvp builds were secluded

yes most people don't like sharing their builds, item set ups etc etc, but some do. I think that getting at least a few guides out there that cover the major character archetypes will be good for the community in general as they can see what makes a build tick and maybe find some general tips for making melee or ranged or caster type chars.

Right now we have a caster, a few fireball trappers, and a few puncture/tornado shot type builds.
