Help me get better at LLD PvP!
I'm trying to get into this PvP, I want to support GGG's hard work on this and so far, I'm unable to even compete at all. I basically get 1 shot by anybody.
I don't even know whats good to be honest. I know that the tabula and helm are crappy for PVP but I never saved much level up gear besides uniques. So perhaps I should farm for that? but anyways here is my set up. Instead of complaining, I'm asking for help! Because I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to PvP obviously. Here is my current set up in standard and I just get rekt 1v1

I assume you're doing a stun based build? But you have no gap closers. You need to think of your win condition.
Next you need to consider what your favorable match ups are and what your counters are. How much can you give up in the favorable match up to make the counter match up better without losing the ones you should win. Think of major archetypes. How do you deal with bow, caster, or melee builds. Break it down from there, puncture bow, ele bow, FP, spark/arc, DW crit, RT builds, and etc. How do you win against each of these and what skills and items do you need to have either all time or to swap into to beat them. Including your passive tree in the post could also help :D But a few considerations (from personal experience, I'm a stunlock marauder) are:
- You're using Geofri's, you don't crit. Speccing into Resolute Technique could be a good advantage: 100% hit chance, ignores evasion, ignores blind, etc. The real problem is block (I'm currently using block chance reduction, for example). - Are you easily stunned? Take unwavering stance, problem solved. Be aware tho that you'll be susceptible to all the attacks, i.e. you can't evade anything. - Adapt yourself to the encounters. Be sure to carry around different items/gems for each possible encounter, e.g. you meet a freeze-based enemy, wear wanderlust, forget about getting frozen again. And as mentioned above, you need a mobility skill. I personally find Flicker strike (linked to Multistrike, Added Fire, Stun) very useful as a gap closer. ok ya, there is some stuff I haven't considered and I didn't exactly think this whole thing out when building it. I'm a noob with PvP but thanks for that advice, I need to re-think things for sure.

I went 4-4 today using pretty similar gear with a 2h marauder. Differently I stacked + all stats on my gear from masters in order to use high dex abilities like flicker strike and fire penetration.
I don't use blood magic, but maybe that's costing you some health? I didn't spec for resolute technique - it definitely cost me my first match versus a melee who was running multiple evasion flasks. But in return, I have ~ a 2.5k double strike as my main attack. I got crushed by a puncture/tornado ranger, but apparently everyone does? Idk, even with 2 staunching flasks and flicker, the guy was still not even close to being in danger of losing. But like I said I went 4-4 at the end of the day and even 2 of my wins and the other 3 losses were at least somewhat close. |
